How to Use
1. What You Need Before Installation
- Jacket-type drum heater (correct size for your drum: 50L, 100L, or 200L)
- Power supply (typically 110V or 230V AC depending on your heater model)
- Optional: Thermal gloves for safe handling
- Digital or dial-type thermometer (if external temperature monitoring is needed)
2. Installation Steps
Step 1: Inspect the Drum and Heater
- Ensure the drum is clean, dry, and free from oil or grease on the outer surface.
- Inspect the heater for any visible damage to the heating element, insulation, or plug.
Step 2: Position the Heater
- Wrap the heater around the side of the drum, aligning it at the desired height (usually the mid or lower section for efficient heating).
- Make sure the heating surface is in full contact with the drum wall.
Step 3: Secure the Heater
- Use the Velcro straps, buckles, or hook-and-loop fasteners to tighten the jacket firmly around the drum.
- Ensure it is snug but not overtightened, to avoid damage to the heater or insulation.
Step 4: Connect Power
- Plug the power cord into a grounded AC outlet.
- If your model includes a thermostat or temperature controller, set the desired temperature.
3. Operation Instructions
Using Built-in Thermostat
- Many models feature a built-in bimetallic thermostat (e.g., 30–110°C range).
- Adjust the dial to your desired setpoint. The heater will maintain the drum’s surface temperature accordingly.
Using External Temperature Controller (if available)
- Connect the digital controller as per manufacturer instructions.
- Insert the temperature probe in direct contact with the drum or its contents.
- Set the desired temperature on the controller.
Heating Time
- Heating duration depends on content type, ambient temperature, and heater wattage.
- Viscous liquids may take 2–8 hours to reach optimum flow temperature.
4. Safety Instructions
- Do not use the jacket heater on plastic drums unless explicitly rated for it.
- Ensure the heater is never folded or overlapped during use.
- Keep the heater away from flammable materials.
- Disconnect power before removing or adjusting the heater.
- Do not immerse the heater in water or expose it to heavy rain unless it is IP-rated.
- Always use the heater in well-ventilated areas.
5. Maintenance & Storage
- After use, let the heater cool down completely.
- Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents or chemicals.
- Roll and store the heater in a dry, dust-free location. Avoid sharp folds or kinks.
6. Troubleshooting
Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
Heater not warming | No power or loose plug | Check socket, cable, or power source |
Uneven heating | Poor drum contact | Refit heater snugly |
Overheating | Faulty thermostat | Disconnect and replace controller |
Indicator light off | Blown fuse or power failure | Inspect fuse or switch circuit |
